Last Friday I zoomed down the A11 to my local track to watch Rebecca Jackson test her new Porsche 997 ahead of the GT Cup season opener at Donington this weekend.
This new Porsche 997 is almost twice as powerful as the Boxster Rebecca drove last year so, of course, its taking some getting used to. It also has a sequential gear box, which is very different to what Rebecca’s been used to. As you can see from the video, Rebecca is feeling positive about the car despite limited seat time.
Spending the day in the garage and watching the team prep the car was a true pleasure. Not only did I get to meet some fantastic people but I learnt a lot about what goes into setting up a race car and how the team works together. This year Rebecca will be sharing the car with Mike Seller and it looks like they are going to work brilliantly together!
I spent a lot of the time milling around the garage, asking the odd question and taking a lot of photos. All of which you can see here.
The GT Cup season starts this weekend (25 and 26 April) and everyone is very excited to get racing! Find out more about the series here and keep up-to-date with Rebecca’s progress over on her website.
