When the rumours started about Lewis Hamilton moving to Mercedes I thought there was no way he was going to do it (shows what I know). It certainly doesn’t seem like a step forward for his career. Christ, I’d even go as far to say it’ll be a step back.
I’m more than happy to be proven wrong on this. There’s something so cuddly about a Lewis Hamilton-Nico Rosberg team that I’d like to see them do well.
I think the thing about Mercedes is that it’s a global brand — the cars are more accessible than the McLaren road cars. There’s so much more Lewis can get out of being with Mercedes publicity-wise. I think this was part of his reasoning for the move.
He also said that Ross Brawn engineered Jenson Button’s win when the Team was Brawn GP. I get that. But then we begin to hear rumours that the great Ross might be leaving the team, although Lewis did speak out against this saying that Ross was staying at the team to win races with him.
Lewis Hamilton and Ross Brawn could make a formidable team when it comes to the 2013 season.
One thing that makes Lewis special is that he can get speed even out of the worst car and I think Mercedes will surprise us with an awesome car in 2013. Although, I think Lewis is aware there’s a tough season ahead.
I suppose I’m ready to be surprised by this new partnership. I want to be! It’s been bugging me with Mercedes hovering around in no-man’s land between the front runners and mid-field. Choose a side guys!
With Lewis behind the wheel of a Mercedes I think he’s going to be able to achieve beautiful things on track. I don’t know if there’s much chance of being consistently better than McLaren but I can’t wait to see him fight.
