Now, I don’t know about the inner workings of the team but to me, an outsider, Sutil seems like the wrong choice for the second seat at Force India.

Firstly, it’s because he had his chance.

Secondly, with his criminal record, will he even be allowed in the the USA for the Grand Prix in Austin? It’s not that I don’t like Sutil (there’s actually someone at Renault I’d like to punch too) but I think it’s time for someone else to have a go. The BBC reported yesterday that it’s almost certain Sutil has the drive.

I suppose there’s a bit of shallow reasoning behind my thoughts on this because the other option for Force India was the very pretty Jules Bianchi.

Fresh meat (so to speak) in the team would be much better than someone who has been driving in F1 for a long time. That might sound stupid but Force India need to do something drastic to propel them further up the standings. Sutil managed to get more points than Di Resta in 2011 but I think that was more down to Di Resta’s failings than Sutil’s genius.

There are also the Ferrari ties that come with Bianchi. He’s part of the Ferrari young driver program and surely that means he’s got some talent. There is also talk of Ferrari providing another engine to one of the smaller teams in years to come. If Force India already has ties to the team then that can’t be a bad thing.

Ferrari are eager to get Bianchi a drive for the 2013 season. Stefano Domenicali said: “We are currently trying to find him a role in Formula One and when we have some news, we will let you know.” Not eager enough, it appears.

It’s looking more likely that Sutil’s got the drive but what do you think?
