Armored vehicles were once only used by presidents, celebrities, drug lords and the paranoid but advancements in the technology that goes into these vehicles has come a long way. This means an armored car is more accessible than ever if you want that little extra protection.
One of these cars that recently came to my attention. It’s an armored Toyota Land Cruiser and it’s brimming with cool features such a reinforced ballistic glass, bulletproof bodywork and heat/cold resistance.
All of this technology serves a military purpose and has been used by the army and security forces. Each element of the armoring has been tested and demonstrated too. This means you can trust that you’re getting military-grade safety from your unassuming Toyota Land Cruiser.
There are a lot of reasons to drive an armored vehicle but road trips through dangerous countries are just one of them. There’s also an argument to be made for these cars in more normal situations too. This Land Cruiser might be bulletproof but it’s also made of high tensile strength steel and comes with all sorts of safety features including, dual driver airbags, passenger airbags, curtain airbags, ABS and xenon headlights with anti-fogging lamps.
On top of that this SUV has four-wheel-drive too, making it particularly capable on uneven or loose terrain. This makes it a particularly practical car for any work that involves tricky driving, any situation where the extra safety and reinforcements might be called for, and on any rocky mountain road trips.
It might not be the car for you if you’re just going to be using it for the school run but if you want to keep the kids safe in a dangerous neighbourhood then perhaps you’ll consider it.
Is this the kind of car you’d like to drive? Let me know in the comments.
